A suspected member with the leeki robbery gang that assaulted a bank in Lekki, Lagos in march this year says he was given just N50,000 from the operation that killed three cops and an adolescent street hawker. Ekelemo Kuete.
The suspect, an Ondo state indigene, who is one of the four captured in the current week (each of the 4 picture above), said 15 of them strove for the operation and that he was the particular person that drove the speed boat that took the burglars to the wrongdoing scene and drove them after they had finished their operation.
"We were 15 in number that strove for that operation and we utilized two speed boats. Five of us stayed back in the watercraft at Lekki while the other 10 went inside the bank. When they executed the policemen and two different civilians I questioned them yet they didn't answer in. I am the speed boat driver that took the equipped theft group to Lekki on march 12, 2015. I didn't want to go, they constrained me, and after the operation, they issued me N50,000. I never went to any theft operation before now; I am into oil bunkering in Arepo along Lagos Ibadan expressway, a community in Ogun state. I know they were thieves when the contracted me to utilize my speedboat to convey them through the waterways to Lekki. I profit from oil bunkering between N50,000- N80,000 every time I go to work" he said.
